I suppose this is like a reintroduction to some of you, I'm AceThreeTwo but just Ace will do. I was a part of Steve's crew for over a year before leaving to focus on college & my Youtube channel (I will be returning to ORAS pretty soon). I started on the Forza racing scene back in the Forza 3 days & returned to Forza racing in late 2015 shortly after the release of Forza 6 & have been racing in events & championships (WTCC & GT16 to name a few) hosted by what's left of my old crew from Forza 3.
The funniest part about all this is that I'm not a huge fan of circuit racing, you see, I rather fly through the gravel stages in the Finnish & Welsh forests or the twisty ribbon of tarmac of Monte Carlo. I take part in a lot of Dirt Leagues in Dirt Rally (winning 1 rally & 1 rallycross event) & I'm currently taking part in the WRC eSports Season 2 in a Skoda Fabia R5, finishing as the top ranking WRC2 car at the Swedish & Mexican rounds.
During the WTCC, I had a vinyl group on my car saying Ace3-2 Motorsport. Shortly after the championship ended, myself & 2 friends decided to form as a team making Ace3-2 Motorsport a 3 car team although their jobs as games developers basically makes me a privateer since they rarely have time to race.
There you have it, an introduction to who I am & the entire story behind Ace3-2 Motorsport. (How to spot me on track? I'm the car with BB-8 & R2-D2 on the rear bumper)
Link to some GT racing I did at Zolder in Project Cars.
Seeing as some guys mentioned their connections to motorsport in their intros, I thought I should just share my connection even though it ain't that interesting.
I work with a rally team here in Ireland that runs a 2015 M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC, when the team bought it brand new from M-Sport it was the first of the new Fiestas not to be used in the WRC itself (still trying to convince boss to enter Wales Rally GB but he refuses). Been working with that team since 2014, before that I worked for McKinstry Motorsport, Kris Meeke's old team for 2 years (2011-2013) & now at the end of the season I'm moving over a friend's team as "chief suspension guy" for his Skoda Fabia R5.
As I said it's not the most interesting story so here's a mildly interesting fact: I have worked as service crew for both Kris Meeke & Craig Breen at rallies in the ITRC (Irish Tarmac Rally Championship).
Here's a timelapse of the team working on the Fiesta in it's first major rally back in 2015, had to watch it a few times to spot myself in it.
(Also I drive a 2008 Subaru Impreza road car & I have no idea how my insurance is so low for it)
It sounds fun until the late nights, very early mornings & spending weekends lying underneath a car in a cold service park, but then again no other job has you surrounded by some of the best rally machines ever built. The next major rally interesting since there's going be a Porsche 997 R-GT taking part, very rare in Irish rallies except the Circuit Of Ireland rally & I've never seen one in person.
In terms of suspension work, I'm currently getting a crash course in how to set them up but thankfully it's usually tarmac rallies so it'll be a basic enough setup.
I'm currently taking a break from Forza 6 racing since I can not seem to find a racing series early enough on weekends that my internet will allow me to race in. Plan to be back racing in Forza 7 if asked to race but as of now, I won't be getting Forza 7 at launch (PC build, WRC 7 & Star Wars Battlefront 2 take top budget priorities).
This led me to take part in the European GT3 Championship in Project Cars (well...I was asked to take part) which runs pretty early on a Sunday since the hosts are Irish too & the field is made up of Irish & British drivers. My current team have mentioned full championship drives as their main driver in future Project Cars 2 championships.
And in bigger news, I am running a team (Ace3-2 Motorsport of course) in Dirt 4 rallycross. One of the guys from the GT series in Project Cars is co hosting a rallycross championship so me & friend decided to move our planned Forza 6 WTCC partnership over to Dirt 4.
