Set to be released this year are the two heavy hitters. Project cars 2 and forza motorsport 7
Personally I will be picking up both games. I LOVE forza, but for me project car is more of a sim racing game.
The ability to set up lobbys, practise, warm up quali etc
The handling feels great. But then I use a wheel and I know many people don't.
Its my hope that project cars two is a little friendlier to controller users. So the comunity can grow on there to. The new game graphically lools amazing. The promise of dynamic weather and time progression is a dream.
Other options such as race penalties and the pit team and manually controlling pit stops is great. I also belive they have got endurance racing sorted for multiple drivers. And these promise of offering a 3 person tv crew for spectating races/comentary/directing looks to give that side of things a big boost.
I hope we also get a livery creator option as that was a big part missing from the first game.
Overall it looks like we might get an alternative experience with project cars 2 not a better one than the new forza just an alternative one.
Forza 7 looks amazing too. Hopfully it will be a more race orientated experience. Just waiting for nore details

Personally I'm a huge fan of project cars simply for the realism it provides even though some of the series are virtually undrivable with a controller lol. I don't have a wheel as yet but graphically pcars2 looks stunning almost on par with horizon3 so would be a shame if they didn't cater more for the controller community. Having said that I do love the paint options provided on Forza6 and for me that's one of the main factors missing in pcars. I've played every Forza game since the original Xbox however I've only really emersed myself in online racing since Oct 2015 taking the time to learn manual gears and spending time in the paint shop so I will without a doubt not be missing forza7. So out of the 2 if my budget could only stretch to one (very tight at the moment) then it would have to be forza7 first.

Forza 7 for me but I'll be getting Project Cars as well.
My concern is using the controller on Project Cars as i don't have a wheel and don't want to splash the cash. I tried the free download of Project Cars 1 and thought i looked good but with the controller it was pretty crap to drive.
Forza is initially designed i believe for a controller and it shows. I'm akso hoping Forza 7 keeps the same same features as 6 but adds in additional simulation aspects such as better wet condition. (Just slippy conditions without bloody big puddles across the track); proper qualifying periods and the ability to do a warm up lap, line up and have a proper countdown start.
Yeah I love the realism in pcars and was surprised how difficult the clios are to control but the ginettas were really good to use. More options are required in forza7 and since they now support an online racing series themselves then surely they must recognise external forums and organised racing because if pcars2 is as good as we all hope then we may see a shift in the preferred online racing platform from which to race.
I also think due to the input from fanatec forza 7 will be a lot more friendly to wheel users. Just hopw with both thease games that there is playability and no disadvantage of using either

As a painter and drifter on top of being a racer, FM7 will be the way to go for me. I'll also get Gran Turismo GT when that comes out on PS4. I may get PCARS2, but honestly the first one disappointed me. I completed a full season of the go-karts and was hooked but then the mclaren f1 invitation race came around and I couldn't keep the car straight (controller user). I'd come back to it and kept trying but have had no luck, so I haven't touched PCARS in months.
I will get Forza 7 for definite, as for Project Cars i will wait and see what feedback there is about use with a controller. As for me a steering wheel is a no no due to disability.
Forza all the way. P-Cars was shockingly bad on launch and after so much promise, which has made me not trust the brand or potential until it comes out, gets a 10Gb update / patch, is reviewed and compared. Even then I'd need to see all my fellow racers and forums jump across to it.
Personally I hope it is a disappointment, I like communities (including this one) and the one thing that breaks up communities is rival games or consoles of comparable features and quality. Not many folks buy every game and have every console, so I'm really hoping Forza comes on strong with proper race features and updates (look at the last F6 update, actual improvements in that area) and keeps the depth of tracks, cars and painting tools and just expands upon it properly.
I really hope they don't do a F5 and come out with half a game, one would hope they've learned from that!?
I think your spot on fezz. It has been a worry of mine, especially as we launched delta with pc2 and fm7 upcoming. I hope we can keep the comunity together with a transition period and providing sonthing for all. For me personally it's not the game I'm rzcing on, that's important but the people in racing with.

THIS in massive flashing neon firework letters!
Everyones best moment in racing will be with a fellow racer(s), not because of a feature or fab graphics.
Nah but they do help lol My best racing moment was at Watkins Glen short last lap of the race taking the lead from mrt035 two corners from the end then mrt035 taking the lead back only for me to get a better exit of the final turn to take the win....epic race !
I would love to get Project Cars 2 & Forza 7 but I give myself a budget that just roughly covers the price of Dirt 4, WRC 7 & Star Wars Battlefront 2 so when Delta does move over to PC2 or Forza 7 that's it for circuit racing from me. I do some rallying irl so I naturally go for rally games over circuit racing games, however PC2 will have rallycross so I'll have to see how that turns out especially with the GRC lites Ford Fiestas included.

Battlefront 2 looks like it's gonna be another hit for EA for sure and like you in budgeting for 3 games BF2 being one of them followed closely by Forza7 and Red Read Redemption2 although I would like to get Pcars2 and COD WW2 never mind Crackdown3 lol but budget simply does not allow.
I might get Project Cars 2 & Forza 7 sometime around or after Christmas, I'm building a PC around September time so that will take up a lot of my budget along with the 3 games. Dirt 4 I'm getting for the Xbox & maybe for the PC when I get myself a steering wheel, WRC 7 I'm getting because I love the eSports element & the current WRC cars of course. So maybe I might make the move over to PC2 & FM7 at some stage but there's a lot of things I'm prioritizing over those 2 games.
But as I said earlier the PC2 rallycross interests me since it seems they're trying to compete with Dirt 4's rallycross, when I saw the GRC Honda in PC2 I thought cool they're going to cover the GRC while Dirt covers the FIA WRX but PC2 will actually have FIA WRX cars too & the Honda is the only GRC car but neither have Mattias Ekstrom's Audi S1. Ford Escort mk1 rallycross in PC2 looks promising, also saw a Clio RX in there too. Always like the Project Cars weather system too & PC2 will have localized weather so track could be soaked in rain but start\finish line could be bone dry.
