Steve and I have reviewed the Clio Cup Sonoma races and have spotted numerous corner cutting incidents and drivers driving beyond the track limits i.e the yellow lines
We don't want to have to penalise drivers with either time or point deductions but to ensure fairness, we will.
You may think this harsh or unfair as it's only an xbox game but the majority of drivers take racing in Forza seriously and put in many hours of practice and to go up against players driving beyond the rules is frustrating and annoying.
Please can all drivers refresh themselves with the Rules and etiquette section.
We won't be taking any action as a result of Sonoma but during the following Championship we will take action.
We also encourage all drivers to inform other drivers if they see them break the rules, Alternatively bring it to the attention of the lobby host with a forum PM.
We will be working on a fair penalty system plus a stewards room for all future races.
Over the next few days we will put together a short video of Sonoma incidents, not to embarrass drivers but as an open and transparent example of what is not acceptable. Some of the clips will have corner cutting incidents but the drivers were seen to have lifted off the accelerator so not all clips will be of 'bad drivers'.
Steve and I would appreciate any comments on the above. Not particular incidents (PM Message) but general comments on driving standards.
It can be very frustrating putting in all the time it takes to test and tune your car and get a quick time within the white lines of the track limits only to be beaten by 3 tenths of a second by some dirty corner cutter! (This has not gappened to me in the clio cup i hasten to add)
I would also say the majority of us are relatively seruius racers and personally i wouldnt feel like I'd won fairly if any corner cutting were involved.
Hi guys, may I suggest that last night be treated as an aberration rather than anything intentional by the drivers last night?
There were a lot of minor instances of lag (even with a 200mb cable connection I were seeing lag) and even frame rate drop especially when drivers quit out of the first race.
You (Yello) and I had a bloody close race, changing position a few times, but we both had a rough time on the exits of turns 3A and 4A,for my part I stayed on the outer edge of the track and braked slower and earlier into the next corner as I weren't able to get into the chat party to warn you I were letting off.

Was really sad I had to cancel me Going but stuff I have no control over cam up

@unleashed. No penalties will be awarded during the Clio Cup unless obviously someone drives like a chump. The next championship is when races will be reviewed etc.
Steves putting together a 'Driving Penalty' thread and will be avaliable to view once it's finalised.

Unleashed evil - the lag you were seeing was from the other person's Internet not yours. Frame rate even drops when the person's Internet is bad and can be really bad even someone quits. I've even had to restart races due to frame rate issue where everybody was hating it.
Sometimes this can be fixed by restarting lobby etc or the guy quiting.

In my honest opinion I think if someone has been seen taking advantage they should be messaged then that way they can learn from their mistakes o can honestly say I made some mistakes but I try to back off but when fighting at the back and in midfeild your trying so hard and some times to hard lol. As for lag and connection issues I have had my fair share doing 90% of race then loosing connection is hard nut to swallow and then starting from the back when I join back is even harder. When it comes to penalties it would be good to see a 3 strike type style when it comes to corner cutting because some might think that unless the lap is gone dirty cutting is ok.
I must say I am enjoying racing with you guys again and together we can make this work as long as numbers stay or improve so let's start finding new members and sorry if my vaping noise bothers anyone if it does please say and I will remember to mute lol

i agree. The racing is fun and for a lot of us this is the 1st experience of actual racing. so we are pushing hard and sometimes our car control is not as polished.
I agree with the 3 strike proposal, but it also must be in context. e.g how does it affect other around you, your race position, did you gain a place advantage, was the cut as a result of a mistake or intentional. There are a lot of factors.
One idea is to have a stewards room. The stewards room will be open, for 2 hrs post race, to submit incidents.
An incident form can be messaged.
eg lap number, approx corner, incident type (collision, corner cut, dangerous driving etc)
car/driver involved. short sentence on what happened. plus any video if you have it.
the stewards will then review the submitted incidents, if corner cutting they will r/w the accused drivers whole race.
we can then make the accused driver aware. Get there side and hand out a penalty.
we could even run a penalty points system over the course of the championship. With penalties starting with 5 place grid penalty, 10 place grid penalty and missing one round. Pts deduction etc
i think as a group we could decide on appropriate penalties. If we do this then when it comes to them been handed out there is no grumbling.
I would also like to point out that an incident form has to submitted, and submitted within the 2 hours for a penalty to be applied. However if the stewards review footage and see an incident eg corner cutting from a driver, the Stewards can issue a "stewards warning" .... no penalty applied until you accumulate 3 stewards warnings.
just ideas guys... please any feedback is welcome. Remember all this is present in real racing, and rules etc are not there to reduce any of the fun ! its there to help promote it. ------
connection issues. I think that in qualifying if there is a connection issue before the lead driver has started his 2nd lap. we can restart. during the race, i think it should be before the lights go green. Once racing were racing. It is frustrating to lag out but it happens.
fuzzyracing i too am loving the group we have its a nice mix. We will be working hard to keep numbers up and equally attract new members. You guys can help massively with that as well. Bring a friend, if you have a good race in another series with someone or even in a public lobby let them know.
THE FEZZLER
So, here's my view. Firstly though I have been on many racing sites and thoroughly prefer the smaller tighter knit places without a doubt. But the smaller places suffer from balancing fair and fun. The big places can afford to be rule-nazis, smaller places not so much, so it's brilliant you guys are so open about the process.
Essentially there's two real racing issues. Corner cutting and causing incidents.
One site I've been a part of shame-live, that is anyone sees anyone else cutting they call it out, casual, banter style, right there in the race. "Easy there tiger, that was a big cut buddy" or so on. This can really help people try to not cut, and keeps everyone honest most of the time without the "officials" being involved. Most people when called out, will adjust, or if it was a tough corner to keep the line, admit the mistake, and will lift a little, job done. Those people when called out that deny, constantly cut, or argue about it will be pretty clear they are in the wrong lobby pretty quickly.
Causing incidents is a much tougher challenge and should be more of an official stewards thing if not resolved in-race. Since most incidents are in the heat of an overtake, or a mis-brake, or any number of fairly exciting moments and mistakes, the view of it will always be open to interpretation until after the race. However, I would suggest we encourage sportsmanship over gaining a place. No one should gain a place by contact, and that ought to be respected, if contact occurs, however it happens, then just back off and try again, do not take advantage of it. Keeping it properly clean is a real skill not many folks have, but the thrill of going side-by-side for multiple corners is utterly intoxicating. Craig knows this, he and I could race all day side by side and not give two hoots which one of us ends up in front, the thrill of the race is all!
Back off, give the spot back, apologise and get back into it. If that don't work, stewards it is and come down hard, since those folks that cause incidents all the time are often not even aware there's a better, cleaner more fun way to race. It's just Forza and we do it for the fun not the trophies.......but over aggression can be a real downer.
All just my two-cents chaps, nothing more, winning is great, but race-craft is better.

On point again fez. We don't want this to be a Rules, rules rules. And i would hate to think that it would get to a point where, stewards where called and had to decide a championship or worse still, battling it out with another guy for 3 laps side by side and then calling a incident because u had a bit of contact.
We encourage calling out in game, quite often myself and cactus when racing will do it, because he know i have restricted view in car and i trust him to be in the position he is saying he is in and not anywhere else.
The stewards is there for when its needed, and more so to help people learn. In my limited time in sim racing ive had a few contact incidents some caused by me some now , quite often i have been unsure as to who's fault it is. Getting some feedback on occasions by calling it to the stewards, has helped me learn.
