A 10 Km walk around the most beautiful place in the world.
I figured there are plenty of motorsport lovers and petrolheads around this place, so I decided to make a short impression of my GP-weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
Spa-Francorchamps has a special place for me. I've been coming there since I wasn't even a year old, and on the Thursday before the '88 Grand Prix my dad climbed over the pit-wall and put me on Senna's front left to make a picture. He told me the only thing between him and the car was a rope, so he might as well, different times. Of course, I don't remember jack shit about it, but it does feel special knowing I might've taken a poopie on the greatest of all time's car.
Anyway, enough sentiment, on to last weekend. I've been going to the Grand Prix at Spa for 3 years in a row now, first time I met up with someone and we came incredibly close to the track, the last two years I've been going to Qualy (and everything else that comes with Saturday-tickets) with my dad, and we go back early to watch the race on TV. I'm from the north of the Netherlands, so it's only a 4 hour drive.
I think it's best to leave the pictures do most of the talking, so here goes.
You can kind of see the huge elevation change Eau Rouge brings to the table, but it can't really be captured on a camera.
My favourite guy on the grid flying through Raidillon on inters.
All the way up the hill, people hanging out at Rivage, you can have a beautiful view over the valley from here.
You can see how packed the place is by looking at the sheer amounts of people on the hill watching over the left-hander with no name leading up to Pouhon.
Here's a view of the Stoffel Vandoorne Grandstand on the far side of the track, watching over Fagnes, Campus and Paul Frere.
And there's Stoffel himself!
Fellow northerner Nyck de Vries (Formula 2) following his team mate through Campus, he finished 7th in his first race for his new team, hat's off!
Last but certainly not least, the Porsches always kick up a spectacle. Here's the pack going through Chicane after their warm-up lap.
I hope you enjoyed this small selection of pictures, let me know if you did. Cheers, Bek.
