Me and Cactus planned to run the Delta Modern Touring Cars Championship (DMTCC) next. It will be a event that spans 7 weeks with media day/test day. We had then planned to run a one off special event followed by and interesting 3 week spec cup - as in a single tune for all (much like the Clios)
My concern is putting the emphasis for people on just one event especially if people struggle to enjoy the Touring cars or struggle to make the Sunday night racing.
As a tentative proposal, how would you guys feel if we ran them side by side.
So the spec cup, on a Friday or Saturday night held every two weeks and the Touring car held every week on the Sunday.
Unfortunately due to mine and Cactus' schedule, the Friday or Saturday would have to be a late start (11pm bst) Or would you prefer to keep things the same and have the odd one-off event or even test sessions or driving advice tuning sessions. The one off events could be be used as a kind of test session for different vehicles and things that will be used or combined into later championships.
We are very aware that we don't want to start running before we can walk and these are very early days, but finding a balance that keeps new people that might join part way through the DMTCC engaged is an important consideration; as is keeping the differing levels and experience of the drivers we have.
Idea for one off event: Something on the Nurburgring.
I have an idea for a spec cup, Formula Ford. This brings drivers to the world of open wheel racing & could lead to Classic F1, F1, Formula E or IndyCar championships down the line.

Not saying we'l be doing it but this gives me a chance to show off a video I made for a previous racing community when we had an idea for a 70's racing series.
Two leagues would be too much for me, and I'd have to choose the best day. That means you may end up with more events but with fewer people in them. From previous experience it's almost impossible on a smaller site to give everyone their preferred day, real life tend to be often unpredictable. The risk of not everyone liking the current main series is just one of those things, they'll come back for the next one. I don't enjoy every car, and there's some series on other sites I just don't run in; I wait for the next one which will be more my style.
I have seen single events work well. So you have your regular featured series, and every couple of weeks or so a single night special event takes place on another day. A one off type thing. This allows competitive testing, and try slightly more left-field cars since they are so brief.
Also the two weeks gig is kind of a pain, again real life can disrupt that time-span much more often.
Ace and fezz thanks for the input. Always helpfull. I think you are both right. That the odd one off event and even just a semi competative test session thrown in now and then to aid testing will be enough.
Sticking with the format of sunday night championship follwed by shorter cup competition. Kinda breaks up a 7 week period with the long chanpinships but does not detract or leave people short of time to practise and work om set ups.
As said we have one week of the clios left. Folowed by media day and test session for the tcc. And then 6 weeks of tcc. We could throw in a one off event on a friday before the 3rd tcc race.
And then we have the next cup competiton. Already lined up and more or less ready to go. Lile the clios this will be 3 weeks - but with an attempt to differ slightly from the usual format of things.
More details on that comming soon.
We want to try keep the cup competitons as close a racing as possible and most will be set tunes or spec and mostly easy to drive. This is not to everyone's liking but it sure gives everyone throughout the field great racing. Its importsnt to us that the guys at the back experience the racing buzz as well. The championships will be the time to test and make car selection, tune and tweek.

Would it be worth using a btcc style race format eg- quali as normal but then a 10 lap race followed by a 15 lap race? That way we could fit in two parts of a series in one night (say rounds 1 & 2 of a 6 part series) , with this format the total time spent on the night wouldn't be much longer than the current method?
My only concern with spec races is that not everyone can get on with the same tune (some like grip, while others like a bit of slip/looser style of tune) would it be easier to have a fixed build but allow drivers to use their own tunes? I'm sure those of us who are decent at tuning could help out those who struggle a little, I'd be happy sharing tunes etc (I'd rather lose a great race than win a poor one).
Carrying on from Acethreetwo, I'd love to see an Aussie V8 supercars series (Ford Fusion, Holden Commodore, Merc AMG, Volvo and Nissan) that would also be a very close series.
